Alberto Tonon

Alberto is Italian and works for a humanitarian organization in Milan.  During his studies he has traveled abroad, living in the US, Ethiopia, and France to get in touch with many different cultures.  He loves traveling, not as a tourist, but as a traveler in order to understand places better.  He joined Project Favela with the hope of doing as much as he can for the children of Rocinha.

Dorothy Cross

Dorothy has recently graduated from Bournemouth University in the UK, and came to Rio de Janeiro to learn about the city's culture, and explore education in a different country. Dorothy has taught Geography and Art classes in Rochina and assists the 4-7year olds with reading during general lessons. She has experience working with non-profit organisations in the UK, and will be returning to a job in a children's charity after three weeks with Project Favela.

Rhianna Hetherington

Rhianna is a originally from the north of England and is a current undergraduate studying Geography at the University of Edinburgh. As this is both her first time volunteering and in South America, she hopes to get a feel for how others around the world live and give something back whilst making great friends and memories

Angel Grimalt

Angel was born in Venezuela but all his family is from Chile. He has been involved with volunteering and NGOs since his high school years, and in the present he supports ‘Project Favela’ with his energy and any know how that he can provide for 12 weeks. He holds an Engineering degree from Universidad Simón Bolívar and an MBA from IESA Business School at Caracas, Venezuela. He studied exchange years in Denmark and Sweden and has worked in the USA and Latin America.

Nefti Eboni Bempong

Nefti is a 21 year old student from the UK who has just graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in Biomedical Science with first class honours. In September she will be moving to Sweden to do a masters in global public health at Lund University. She has volunteered at primarily schools previously and enjoyed it and thought itwould be a great experience to volunteer abroad and gain more global perspective!

Gayatri Ruparelia

Gayatri is a 27 year old Primary School Teacher and understands the difference education can play in a young person's life. Gayatri lives in London, England and finished her masters in teaching in 2013.  Gayatri loves to volunteer and give back to the community
